Hello,

its me again. just to share out yesterday's shoot. quite a private outing which more on lesson base on how to get 3d portrait. at first i wanted to make it as high fashion portrait. due to too many photographer and a very shy girl.... blek..

not many shots from me actually. i am more enjoy to hold reflector for them ^^ i am more to full body portrait recently. nope. not with tele. but with ultra wide lens.

bare natural light. i instructed yun kee to face to her right. just her head and eye back to me. just a tip from me. often the model will face parallel to you. in order to get some depth, 1st thing you have to look for a back ground which able to bring out the model. then you can use head or hand to bring out the line.

i like the pose but some how its abit too sharp. i looks better in A4 size.

this is a nice place for portrait too. wish i can set up some strobe yerterday in order to bring out more contrast.

haha which one better? ya this is something you will find from me. personally fee that this is 2 simple.

Beside portrait, as usually i will poison others with canon Lousy lens. Is it a must to use canon Lousy lens? the answer is no, not a must but you shoot try. because why? when you shooting with canon Lousy lens, it is much enjoyable with the focus speed and overall image quality. you dont have to worry if you knock something because it is in metal, you dont have to wonder how dusty the inner lens after the shot because canon Lousy lens is completly sealed.

no la taken with one of my favourite lens tokina 11-16. what you can get with this lens? smooth bokeh like full frame, mild to no barrel and pincushion distortion. most important is its extreme sharpness.

how it compare to canon 10-22?
it has f2.8 - which is very nice during low light, metal body - which is robust as a tank. throw the person's head you dont like ^^ 16mm f2.8 on fullframe - how much its a 16-35 f2.8 L? you do the calculation. it is cheaper too. but you will lost USM and a more usable range to canon 10-22.

eh? why i am talking about lens pula.... back to topic.

Flying with mas on boieng 777

Flying without wings? no la i am talking about my day on going back home on 24/11/2009 ( sem break ). This time is my 1st experience with Boieng 777 flight which is also the largest flight i ever fly with in my life. of course i was over excited that day. even "shock sendiri" for the whole journey.

Well is not as smooth as you thing. we (pei wen and i) booked the flight ticket half year ago. We purposely but the ticket according the plane model. 4pm flight consider late for me since i have to travel back kuantan once arrive in KLIA.

We arrived KKIA on 3pm. guess what? our flight delay to 8.40pm! here is the prove.

we went to the office to comfirm the flight. at the same time, we request for earlier flight replacement ( althought i prefer 777 ) still then we are inform there are 24 person waiting for the already full plane. Of course they have to compensate us! air asia giving RM200 voucher for any delay on more than 3 hours. But MAS only give us Mc Donald voucher -_-". some how better than nothing.

After having my 3 times refill in McD, finally we are onboard. I almost lost my watch at the counter thanks to the malay boy for chasing after me.

overall it is a fine journey. coming 28 december i will be flying back to kk with the same plane. hopefully able to fly with big plane everytime. Its really to travel with plane :)

Tidy up my stuff and found there are bunch of unwanted stuff generating dust and eat up all my space. throw it? seems a waste. since then i throw up the the net hope to turn them to cash. guess what? i sold a processor, ram mainboard graphic card and two old hand phone. my record was sending 4 parcel to courier service in one shot. phew. pack and pack. i need more boxess.....

found something cute from me.
i dont remember when i wrote this. 天书haha. :)

Its time for a rest. just finish my exam yesterday. Not doing good this sem. but thats the fact too busy. perhaps time management is the key!!

After several of heavy usage on my laptop, the cpu fan start to surrender. It took me some times to search for spare parts in malaysia and finally i import it from hong kong. Saved me around RM100 too and its brand new. Since then i bought another pair of hinge too since i had broken it for sometime.

In order to fix the fan, i have to dissemble everything as below.

this is the small tiny fan that i want to change

the mainboard. most heavy part of the laptop.

the hinge that i boken.

modified it to works. as you can see i had cut it with iron saw.

old and new.

luckily i did not left any screw as i always left few after assembe. :P

i took the chance to clean the screen too. its mirror clean now.

Its easy as 123 to repair a laptop. no point leave it to other which charge you a bomb and time consuming. let me know if you need help. thanks

Happy mooncake festival!!! 1st time in UMS we having a mooncake festival. well it seems to be a digi fest where there is tons of constraint from digi. right, as usual, i was asked for photography service. however, i only promise to cover the makeup and hair do part for SNIPS.

haha, glad to see there is more photographer around. are the youngster more and more richer? here comes a joke, yesterday there was one guy with full nikon gear. a nice bag, i think that 1 should be a d90 with a kit lens, and a very obvious big sb900. so, he were standing there showing te interest to take photo infront the stage. well i walked up and say " just go have fun ", he then reply " duwan lah " "why?" " i scare scold by them"..... I was thinking that with all your equiptment, who dare to question you? haha

Happy birthday qian!! we had a small party for our classmate. after that i was sperated by the downpour...:(

Borneo Tropical Rain Forest!! Another unforgettable spot for me. This is the place we play snooker, wet post men, jungle tracking, swimming etc..
Oh before that let me show you the place we stay. I will be back one day. Seems like I am fed up with city life. Hehe :P

From Bekenu to Borneo Tropical Rain Forest takes us around 45minutes. Do you notice the sign board? The old three behind is form by three trees hugging each other. We visited their orchard, breeding farm and their pond is full of fishes. I give two thumbs to the scenery.

This is their chalet. Nice looking but not cheap though. The cheapest is RM300 per room.

We enjoyed a lot here but mostly playing with games. So hardly have things to share out unless you experience it. RM50 for buffet lunch and all in activities is worth. This is also the final spot before we back to UMS. Ya! I really feel touch when going back. Looking back the joy the fun we share among each other for 4 days. I will never forget the journey. We are planning another trip to mulu cave. I am sure we will find something interesting there! I am sure….

My miri and Gua Niah

Been one week time. Really busy week for completing two proposal, one quiz and two assignments. Atlast i have some rest time now..

kay back to the trip. I fall in love with the “dry mee” there. It’s so tasteful without the smell of soya sauce. Perhaps I have boring with the smell? Ya its white in colour. We went to 2020 for breakfast before explore the whole city. Few days back I saw a 2020 café in KK too.:)

This is what we have in the morning.
Driving experience in miri was scary but fun. If you notice their local newspaper, the main page will be who die in an accident, how many cars bang together… etc. seems like the trademark of city of sea horse. I find interesting with their taman awam. Is a nice place to walk and relax. Their public toilet even more high tech. The worker is provided with a laptop. Quite some shots there too. Very enjoyable. Miss that spot……

Miss you guys..
I notice that most of the place name is in English such as fan city, x planet, marina bay, Canadian hill etc… Something u cannot miss in Canadian hill is the earthquake car. Its simulate the whole scene with a kelisa. I even have a photo with the the first “Grand Lady” in Miri. On the same day, I notice that my 550ex consume a lot of power. Other than that it’s a great flash. You rock my world!!

Gua Niah is a must visit tourist spot if you go to miri. From there I salute that how they manage to survive in this ancient cave. No water supply and not even a proper path to travel out from drawing cave to trader cave. how they make it? hmm...

These are the food we bring to the cave. Scary right? Haha Just a tips from me if you going to Gua Niah. Prepare a bottle of water and some refreshment. A torchlight is a must because it is complete darkness inside. Never wear a Japanese slipper as it is slippery along the journey. Enjoy the mother of nature so you won’t get bored plus you will notice funny insects. Many colourful snail though. I met a weird situation inside the cave. I was so excited when we notice scorpion and some weird looking grasshopper (why there is grasshopper inside a dark cave?) . As a result I took out my camera and start snapping. I admit I did abuse the flash as you know 40d use multiple preflash to assist AF. So after few shot, the shutter button become not functioning. Everything work fine except trigger the shutter. I thought my shutter assembly gives me problem. But once I reach outside the cave, its start to works as usual. Do you believe there is some kind of spiritual thingy inside the cave? Really scare me out. So guys, don’t simply take any photos inside the cave. It’s scary but it’s real.

From what I know, inside the bags is bat’s shit. They sell it as organic fertilizer.

A very special coconut bread. Its wrapped with coconut floss. I have a great impression with the bakery in miri.
Kylle’s occurrence make our journey more meaningful. He came from Michigan and Yong Liang bring him along with us. From my point of view, nothing different between Malaysian and American as they are as friendly as us, as playful as us. Thanks buddy for the opinion on my idea. Hopefully I can win the Mobile Content Challenge 2009. :P

When you reading this, i am already in sy fui's house in miri. When first landing in miri, i am impress with the wide land and the clean air here. No mountain no forest, no nothing. This trip was planned since last sem where the tickets were already bought by then. Thanks god this trip did not affect by the H1N1 close down (UMS did not involve in the school close down).

Here is the only shot of me in airport. Pink colour mask looks cool though. Looks serious eh? if you notice, everybody were smilling. The airport here looks alike compare to kuching airport.

after that, we went to mosjaya place for our breakfast. cute right the name "mosjaya place" sounds like most berjaya place for me.

No sure what happen to my hair.... perhaps just wake from a nap during the journey.

As you can see quite many people though. Its 8am, they dont have to work? You hardly see cars on the road unlike kuantan right now where often trap in a jam. Miss those day's trafic as i dont have to spend so much time on travel.

Ma Baker is the most popular and well known bakery in miri. Anyway, i did not have a chance to try it yet. Actually i just wake from a nap and found there is internet conectivity :) . yup another nap due to sleep very late yesterday night at 2am. Oh ya forget to mention we wake at 4am to ensure we did not late for the 6.25am flight.

We might go to seaside later. Sy Hui's house is a very nice place for portrait. Will try to have some if i manage to do so. My mind full of ideas now.. hopefully there is a strong morning ray or evening ray shine in here. haha stay tune. :P

Robot attacked Swedish factory worker

found this just few minutes back. its happen in april, althought its abit outdated but i feel its still has its value. This make me thinks of skynet.

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.

Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I've never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim's head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker.

The day i back to UMS

Just to share some picture. Been busy since the day i reach sabah. I had my lunch in small Taipei (if my memory still serve me.) just behind timesquare. Its a nice place but still the environment brightness is not my taste. The food there is nice and its not cheap though.

My flight was 9.25pm and it was delayed about 10 minutes. Well we went to the KFC nearby for dinner. All the while i am with my N95 mask. too bad i forget to take any photos with the mask.

Story of My GreenBox

I had completed my softbox yesterday. It took me 3 days. yup 3 days and glad i fixed all the problem i met. I always wanted to buy a softbox for my own use.( Wil explain later whats the different compare to umbrella.) But due to budget right now and as an action to MJ's will to HEAL THE WORLD, i decided to make my own as green as i can. No! not the small one. Its 50cmx40cmx40cm insize.

So how green is it? It main chasis is a Dell lcd box, unused white paper and aluminium foil from few years back school project. other than the black tape, i did not spend anything else on this softbox. Now you know why i name it as GreenBox?

Just some tips from me. If you ever want to make a big softbox, always consider its weight for mobility. Tell you what, i stuck at the mount for 2 days. the box is too heavy and is imposible to hang or stick it on your flash light. I had tried to tied it up but nothing come stable unless you want to take the risk that the flash light may drop out when using it. At this moment, i came with an idea. Why not we make a bracket? Sounds cool right? Searching high and low.... where to find a metal bracket? hmm. beside that how can i secure it on my softbox? more and more questions popping out. Atlast, i made a wooden braket. Feel sad because i had break my saw during this task. Everything come secure, dancing with my softbox and flash is no longer a problem. There is tons of material which is low weight unfortunately i cant find it in my store such as sun shades, manila cardboard, hard wires...

So how my greenbox perform? Is hard to tell its perfect as i am not sure it is soft enough for large and small area usage. Still under testing but so far so good.

From the shoe you will notice, it is big enough to cover up the whole shoe. The key is the inner part "tempo".

My friend always ask me why softbox and not umbrella? And the size really matter?
Always remember the bigger the size, the bigger the light source. I like softbox because it gives me a more controlable light where umbrella spread all the light around which will make tons of unwanted fill lights to your picture. Is cheaper and better option if you are new to lights. Oh ya 1 more thing before i end. When you building a very big softbox lets say 100cmX100cm with flash strobe, consider lost light rate also. because why? U need to overcome the vignate.

Don't ever think you can speed with your sport car in malaysian highway anymore. PDRM aka Polis Di Raja Malaysia had implement Evo X to the highway speed trap system. We always says that waja polis car hardly able to chase any sport car in the highway. This remind me one short conversation in tokyo drift about the ability of polis car at certain speed limit. Lamborghini? Nope, it still bound to our highway design under 120km/h. I would say that Evo X can handle everything well.

This had proven where recently PDRM manage to stop one skyline R34 GTR if not mistaken under speeding issue in one of the highway. It's funny to see a skyline and evo x stop beside the road.
I am not sure whether the speedtrap camera is functioning well during the day time as we still see road block as the common way for speedtrap. But i am confirm it is not during the night time. In my opinion, it is a good move to counter illegal racing issue and night speeding issue at this moment.

Nothing is perfect. I do see potential problems soon because illegal racer might interested to provoke the polis and do PRDM really have good driver to handle the Evo X? It is extreme dangerous and harmful to other user if both party racing in the highway. Not to mention the maintenance. Well is still showing PDRM is doing thier job againts criminal. So to the afford on piracy DVDs in our country. Stop complain this and that. Ask what you have done to the country?!

hmmm... since last sem, i hardly do any photos other than light strobe portrait. Yes, i learnt alot. but at the same time, i lost something that i always do last time. Miss my macro photography with my s6500fd. I always want to express photos with the story behind. Actually this is the only secret of art, the center of art. Well since dslr era, most of us just keep fliping the shutter without any purpose. Close up bokeh doesn't mean anything. Don't get influence by the camera magazine out there, or else as what mr yong said "Dig Your Own Grave".
Yesterday, I went to gelora for lotus. Its the 3rd time if not mistaken, but with different setup every attempt. I found that 70-200L do not perform well at about 1.2m. It hunt alot maybe due to extreme shallow dof. Even f8 u can hardly get a full focused lotus. heres are my shots.

Went up to lembing yesterday with few of my friend. sunrise? nothing but just normal one. anyway i still get 1 hillscape which i feel okay.

Then we start our exercise on multiple light is a bright area with 1/200 limitation. I use cross light alot and 1 hair light to pop out the model. due to the space available, i decided to use Ultrawide angle as a challenge.

I always enjoy posing and doing funny face. Its FUN right? haha

Jump here jum there like a mokey gave me alot of fresh ideas.

wish to have more session in the future. :P

Did not meet my buddy for one year dy. Today we went out for sunset in paddy field as i suggested. When we reach there, the field doen't looks like full with paddy. Perhaps not the right time. Anyway we still manage to shoot something. Nope. no good weather also.
